About New England Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, Inc.

New England Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons Founders

The New England Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons is one of the oldest regional plastic surgery societies.

The Society was organized by four forward-thinking plastic surgeons:
Drs. Bradford Cannon, Samuel Climo, Richard P. Sexton, and Radford C. Tanzer. Dr. Tanzer, who headed the group, would go on to become a pioneer in ear reconstruction.

The four first met in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1959. They believed that bringing plastic surgeons together from the six New England states would provide valuable opportunities to promote education and research, improve rapport among colleagues, and increase scientific knowledge, which still holds true today.

Continuing the Founders’ Vision

Today, the Society continues to maintain those same standards, improving on its goals each year.

In keeping with the Founders’ request, the Annual Meeting is always held within one of the six New England states.

The Annual Meeting gives members and guests an opportunity to enjoy the beautiful New England area and its many wonderful hotels and resorts.
It is always held over a weekend so that it does not impact practices or the work week.
